Fuel cut or worse?
this only started when i was driving home today so i'll do my best to try to explain it.
was leaving work today and probably around 3rd gear @ ~4500rpm, it felt like my car just shot out a parachute. car bunny hopped a bit and the exhaust popped a bit also. was a pretty harsh feeling. i thought i had blown my turbo but there's no smoke. i gave it another boot about 500m later and listened to my intake and it sounded like it was struggling to force the air in. it did the same thing. i nursed it for about 10km's until i got closer to home where i gave it another stab. it wasn't as harsh as the first time but something cut out again. as i got on my street about 5km's later i gave it one more stab. i got to about 5200rpm before i backed off. nothing happened and it seemed fine. everything in my engine bay is dry, no engine light came on at anytime while driving home and my car runs perfectly fine. idles at 500rpm and oil pressure is all good, car still boosts and does everything its supposed to. so, i'm just a little concerned as to why my car seems to be doing this. yesterday i filled up with 98 from BP in scabs but it drove perfectly fine all day. even this morning there were no issues. could this be as simple as a bad batch or fuel or something much worse? if anyone knows what i'm talking about, why is this happening and what is it? cheers.

Give the fuel pump a look at.
same thing happened to me, as soon as the turbo started to spool my car started to bunny hop and all this. Did it feel like your car was just struggling? |

Car boost, so I'm guessing you have a gauge... What is it boosting to and what other mods / tune do you have on the car?

@trentisim: it did if i kept my foot down. as i lifted it all went back to normal
@kato: it was boosting between 5 and 10psi. to make a closer assumption i'll have to say 8psi. only mods i have is a 3"TBE with cat and a CAI. nothing engine wise at all. car runs fine all the time so it was a bit of a shock to have this happen today

Yep, that's essentially what was happening to me. I'd say it's the fuel pump but as always just get it checked.

8 psi with foot down @ 5,000rpm?
You're in a limp mode. Or the gauge is hooked up wrong. Exhaust + CAI with no tune, I'd be expecting boost cut in the conditions you explained. But 8 psi is an issue... not changed any boost lines?

There's something wrong for sure. My gauges aren't the best but in 4th at about 4200 my boost hung around 8psi flat footed. Im at my mechanics now so we're going to check it out.
