proper oil check!

Okay, so I have a feeling my dipstick isn't showing the right reading!
I have a 92 lib but a 94 wrx engine!

Anyone got any idea how I can get a correct reading or what I can buy to check it?

Also what is the best temperature to check the oil?
Cold or mid temp, everyone ses different, I'm under the impression cold is best because the oil has had time to cool and flow back into the oil pan from the heads ect.

:) nade.

Cold is usually the best on flat level ground. Although there is a hot mark on the dipstick, its a notch above the full mark.
The most important thing is, if you are going to check it when cold, always check it when cold. That way you will know if it has dropped.
If you check it when hot, then check it cold another day, you wont get consistent readings.
Dont know why the dipstick wouldn't be reading right?
As long as the little oil can on top is upright, it will be correct, unless someone has changed the sump or dipstick.

Yeh I'm pretty sure the previous owner changed the dip stick to a chrome one so I dont think its right!
Never get the same level one day its over full and next nothing, not a drop! -.-

when you check, do you pull it out, clean it put it back in and pull out again to check?

take it to allstar if your getting it tuned anyway and they should have a genuine one laying around somewhere

I have a dipstick for a normal sump, non equal length.

Ill mayb talk to allstar when I get my tune and injectors,
And also I'm not that silly I wipe it off first go and do it agen!
Yesterday I check it and it was bone dry put a litre of royal purple in and then it was over full!!

Empty on dipstick does not mean the sump is empty...

The difference between E and F on the dipstick is only 500ml or so.
