Default Noise from turbo

Hi guys I've done some searching on here but can't find anything like whats happening with our wrx.

Basically when I come off boost or slow down it sounds like a loud vibrating sound coming from the turbo. If I accelerate a bit and slightly spool the turbo it goes away. When I'm down shifting it makes a short like 'kerrrssshh' sound per gear that I downshift.

Is it possible the bearings are on the way out? The car drives fine and turbo spools like normal. I rebuilt the engine last year and when I had the turbo off it was fine.

Likely its the turbo or just something rattling in the engine bay? Any ideas? Its a TD05.

check heat shields around the up-pipe.

td05s are pretty tough. When they die though, you know it. If the bearings give out, the blades will touch the walls of the compressor housing and make a horrible noise.

So if it drives normal and sounds normal on boost. Check for other things around the turbo.

The noise it makes when coming off boost is pretty bad and it sometimes stays there until I accelerate a bit. No smoke or anything out the back so thats why I thought it might just be worn bearings? I'm doing some work on the car today so I'll check the heatshields.

It'll probably be the upper most heatshield on the up-pipe...Just give it a twist to stop it rattling.
