Default short shifter

Hi,

I'm running a 4.444 5spd from a 2002 WRX (non STI). Using the standard shifter and linkage which came with it.

Luke is running a 4.444 5spd from an STI WRX.

His shifter feels totally different to mine - way way shorter throw to select gears.
The shifter stick (which the knob goes onto) is exactly the same as mine.
So I'm guessing that it's the linkages which go to the gearbox which are different.
Either that or is it an internal linkage difference?

Hoping I can just swap the linkages over so I can get the same shifter feel on mine - if so, what do I need to buy exactly.
Complete shifter linkages from an STI gearbox? if so exactly which one?
Otherwise is one of the Ultrex products suitable?

thanks.

I could be wrong, but I am fairly certain you will find the pivot point on the STI shifter will be higher up the shaft than yours so it will move the linkages the same amount with less movement from the knob. Hope that makes sense.

That does make sense and it was my initial thought too, but nah its not that in this case.

Luke bought a different shifter from Ultrex (even tho he already has a very short throw on his) and put it in and it was exactly the same.
He gave me his old shifter and I compared it to mine - identical pivot point.
