GC8 speedo "sticky"
Hey,
The speedo on my GC8 (MY97) doesn't really have a fluid movement, a bit like it has to think about what speed it's doing. Is this a problem with the sensor or the cluster itself? Did a quick search but couldn't find anything. Cheers, Steve |
depends if its cable or electric driven speedo.
my97 is a borderline year, some do/some dont, depending on its origins. i'd suggest yours is cable driven though and could probably do with a re-grease. |
It's the white faced cluster if that helps

Have a look down the firewall infront of the drivers position. If there is a thick rigid cable coming out heading down to the gearbox. You will have a cable driven speedo.
You'll need to pull the cable out from behind the dash cluster and regrease the cable inside the sheath. |
Ok thanks I'll give that a go over the weekend
|
Does the speedo give out a continuous 'click' sound now? If so, most likely fault is speedo cable.

Can't hear one
|
One the topic of clusters.
Is there a light bulb for the clock, I can just make out that its on during the day, but its not bright, and you cant see it at night. Is this a common problem? |
Haven't got the dimmer switch turned down?
|
I dont think so, wouldnt that dim the whole cluster at night?
