got a new Xr6turbo ute with the german 6 spd auto.. few mods and easily up to 300rwkw/600nm.. just with a flash(CAPA,NIZPRO) with everything stock they get 290rwkw and 550nm..

and they drink juice like my sti so its nothing new.. actually beter fuel economy than the sti

might be a boat but its smooth, quiet and would give any wrx a great run in a straight line or rolling run.. ive seen with the zf 6spd the turbo utes are running low 14's/high 13's stock.. isnt that what a wrx does stock? 10.11 is the fastest road driven xr6turbo in oz.. havent seen many street driven wrx's do that!

ill still miss the STI's lightning corner speed and 4 wheel nuts but i wont miss hardly fitting in it! im only 6'2" and 105kg's(settle joe and fred)..

My series 1 XR6T ute (manual) with about 200kg of stuff (fuel, me, tools etc) came in at a tidy 1980kg.

I hope they have sorted the dramas out but mine has been an unmitigated disaster. I will never buy another ford. I am tempted to buy the new shape maloo next year but build quality is a genuine concern.

As for the boost box from capa.....been there done that and the times at kwinana actually went backwards as you wound the boost up. I am sure that it could have been fixed with a custom tune but I can not be bothered.

There is someone else on this forum (who I know wants to remain nameless) that had a series 2 XR6T auto and ran it at 10 psi.....It is all good he says....you should do the same....then I get a phone call....listen to this.....clunk clunk clunk.....bent rod on number 5.

I dont want to dampen your enthusiasm but just be a bit careful before you go doing much to it.

Cheers

Brendon

its good to hear any personnel accounts brendon..

yeah the series 1 in any aussie car is a definate no buy! for the last 15yrs 1 series anythings where shit.. my mates series1 vt ls1 got piston slap at 1000km's old.. holden replaced his motor 3 times before he gave up and got a mazda! i think they replaced 30,000 australia wide before they bought out series 2 with diff bore liners..

as i said theres a bf 6spd auto stock running 13.7 in sydney..

from ba to bf they have beefed up valve springs, rods and crank.. im not going to go stupid but the capa flash with nizpro custom tune sounds the goods..

did you know with the bf ford actually sell you the capa box and it doesnt screw your warranty unless you go over 10psi? the dealer principle even endorsed the product!

dont want to bag but with your mates car it sounds funny like a tuning fudge or factory defect.. a mate of a mate has had ba for 3 years now running 395rwkw, 14psi, 95000km's and he thrashes the bags out of it.. all with a change of valvesprings, cat replaced, bigger fmic and capa custom tune.. hes the one who gets the same fuel economy as the sti

Im so jealous! I'd love a boosted ute for skids! If you ever want a whore on a cruise, im keen

A couple of mates have xr6r's in sedan form. Nice cars and its a great direction for ford to take things..

Regarding power / torque to weight ratios, i dont think it would be any worse against a new wrx as i seem to recall several tipping the scales at over 1500kgs without driver remember!

yeah.. bloody mine when my mate and i weighed our cars at work his ba xr6t ute was 1860 without driver.. mine was 1560 without me.. does become a close equation..

im looking forward to some circle work and regular replacement on rear boots..

just as long as i dont try to corner in the wet like in the sti or my face might look like

Drove the car on the scales at Barbagallo on Saturday to compare against previous weighbridge results (above) - no changes to car from previous weigh-in:

100% street trim + full tank of fuel, without driver = 1506kg

With driver (pre-dump, before Maccas) = 1584kgs
