Default 00 STi cluster into 98 gc8 speed sensor fault

hey all,

ive been on this all day and have ran out of things to try, ive cut the plugs off an old 00 model and wired up the new sti jdm cluster into my 98 gc8, everything is sweet except for the speed sensor. looks like mine has a 2 pin sensor which goes straight from sensor to cluster, and the 00 has a 3 pin, which looks like just a positive, negative input and the 3rd is an output to the cluster.

the wiring diagrams dont really help from here onwards, i have managed to get it kind of working, the speed shows 100kph when im doing like 40kph.....that kind of ratio.

so do i need the 00 speed sensor to make it all sweet or is there something ive missed or a resistor i can wire up?

thanks for any help

I've got a funny feeling I heard years ago that 98/99 and 00 were different and not interchangeable, if ever you're about 120kl north one day I've got an old 99 cluster here you could try but I'm sure someone further south than Mullaloo will have one.
