Default Spark Plug Question

My 05 WRX is coming up 50,000ks and I want to replace the spark plugs.

I guess I want to stick with original plugs as no complaints so far unless anyone has any other recommendations and why I should swap for a different type.

My question is shall I just get the originals from Subaru or will they just rip me off with the price or can I get them from anywhere and cheaper. Does the gap come preset or wiil I have to check it and if so what is the gap??

Thanks

NGK PFR6B is what you need, comes pre-gapped to suit.

Ok thanks for that.

Supercheap have them for just under $20 each. Is that a reasonable price ??

If you have ever changed your plugs before you will go with the Evolution R supplied and fitted for the extra $20... well worth it in my opinion.. and i'm sure you may want a few of their other cheap upgrades at the same time...

Ok now I am confused

Just found a parts manual extract, attached, that says it is a PFR6G spark plug.

The NGK site says the same as you Rossco PFR6B and supercheap have them listed as PFR6B-9. Are these the same or different

I think I will go straight to Subaru to avoid any mix up.

Never changed them before but on research it seemed it wasnt to bad to do them yourself. Its always good if you can save a bit of money but not if it gives you a bigger head ache.

I will keep Evolution R in mind. I am going to see them this week anyway for something else.

Pfr6b-9 is pre-gapped to .9mm

Pfr6b is pre-gapped to .8mm

Performance difference is 0.

Your more likely to find pfr6b than pfr6b-9 on the shelf at general auto shops.

I used to do the pfr6b's for $15.00 a plug for club members - sorry I don't have wholesale access to them anymore since i changed jobs.
