Getting my short block rebuilt due to gasket failure. Labour to take out the engine and put it back together with only new gasket kit was around 15 hours. Just a ballpark figure.

2-3 hours to pull it out. if you have any mechanical knowledge you can pull it out your self. its not that hard

I would say around 15 hours labour, plus factor in a gasket set which is ~$600.00, plus coolant, oil and oil filter, another $200 to $300.
Best to replace your timing belt and maybe your water pump as well, which is another $350.
You'll be looking at least $2500, most likely more.

Also, remember if your old engine has failed the parts will all be contaminated with debris. The oil pump, sump, oil pickup, heads, oil feed lines, turbo and hoses etc will all need thorough cleaning and inspection. Valve clearances and seats will need to be checked, the head faces should be machined flat, new head studs or bolts shopuld be used. I always fit a new oil relief valve or new oil pump complete. The radiator should be serviced too.
