Opinions: Keep CAI or revert back to stock air box
Lads,
Need to book the car in soon-ish to sort out a little niggle with the tune (methinks its a boost spike in 3rd at around 4000rpm but I'll ask RTorque about that). My search skills are clearly failing me as I cannot for the life of me find threads about losing torque with CAI's (or I could just be an idiot...probably) So as the title states, Should I keep my Hyperflow CAI and simply have the car looked at/re-tuned or go back to the stock air-box + STI air filter? Car has a Blouch TD05H-18GXT, PW TMIC, 725cc ID injectors, Walbro pump, Grimspeed BCS, AVO silicone inlet pipe and Butler TBE Makes 226kw/375Nm on 17psi right now but before that was making 153kw/400Nm on 15psi with just the exhaust, pump + tune. (torque spread is better now but I wonder if I can get some torque back from the stock box in giving up some top end?) Cheers, Shane. |

Add some new headers for more torques!

Keep the CAI (I love the sound personally) and as Craig said, get headers (EL).

Go back to stock box.. They are fitted for a reason and last thing u want is a pod filter sucking hot air

You won't suck hot air in the guard - that's the hole reason they put them there.

Thought the issue with the in-guard ones was closer to potential water ingress when splashing through puddles? So long as all your guards are in place though I would have thought it would be alright?
Talk to the tuner Shane, see what he reckons.

Keep the airbox imo but I like a pod due to the increase induction noise :P
and CAI in teh guards may suck up water if you run into deep puddles and dont have a guard liners....

Standard air box with 90mm pipe going into inner guard, still sounds good and looks stock, had no trouble in over 6yrs with my home made Bunnings set up.
