Scott, here's an idea.....Do you have a set of jumper leads? If so, use the jumper leads to connect the battery post to the remains of the positive terminal. Make sure none of it can touch the bodywork and drive to work. Thewn get a terminal tomorow from an auto parts shop and install it then. Note; once the car is running there is very little current going back to the battery, the alternator is suplying the power to run the car through the remains of the broken battery terminal even if it has come off the battery. It's not good for the alternator to be disconnected from thew battery while the car is running but it will still continue to run even if it does disconnect.
Thanks for that Doug. I have jumper leads (I bought them today when I bought the battery lol) I will try this if Mao doesn't have the right size terminal clamp.

Pissweak service stations that don't stock battery terminals, headlight globes, motor oil or fan belts anymore, yet they sell groceries, cappucinos, phones, movie tickets etc.

So true. I was seriously disappointed at the range of car stuff they had (a few bottles of oil, some cheap insulation tape and a couple of random globes) yet they had stacks of snack food, groceries, drinks and magazines.

Did you at least pick up a couple pornos to relieve the stress of the situation?

On a serious sort, all sorted now?

even the porn selection is terrible now. Except for BP, they still stock a decent range :p

A big thanks to Mao for coming around at 10pm and dropping off a new terminal clamp. Unfortunately though it is still too big for the small terminals on the battery. I tried making some sort of sheath from scrap metal that I had and tried wrapping some wire around the terminal but neither idea worked. So it looks like I'm catching the train tomorrow.

Safer way would be to steal the negative battery clamp, use if for the positive, then connect the negative side via jumper lead....

Ended up going back to Repco after work (got a lift from a work mate, the same way I got the battery afterwork yesterday). The person there yesterday had sold me the wrong battery. I bought a new one today hooked it up fine and car is operational again. I'm going to Repco after work tomorrow for a refund on yesterdays battery.
