STi Radiator Cap.
Ladies and gents,
I have searched but I am either blind or missed if this has been asked. I have just upgraded my radiator hoses on my 05 STi to silicon hoses thanks to Mao for the suppy... :) I have an STi radiator cap and I am wondering which cap to replace of the 2 standard ones being the radiator itself or the "overflow" cap near the TMIC. Any help appreciated.. Cheers, Joe. |
Should replace both to 1.3 bar caps.
|
Why do you want to replace any of them? Your car over heating?
|
Car isn't overheating...
Just bling really... Cheers, Joe. |
I think the top tank cap is rated lower then the radiator one.
Check the KPa values on both caps.. |

Top tank is 108 kPa..
Radiator is 137 kPa.. I have read that increasing the cap venting pressure raises the boiling point slightly so the theory is that the engine runs cooler. On a 75k stock engine fingers crossed the head gaskets are good. Could be BS but I am not qualified to comment. Meh, I'll put it on to replace the radiator cap as this is the closest to the 1.3 Bar rating of the STi cap. I am the hippest.... :) Cheers, Joe. |
Any more comments on the above? I've replaced both mine to 1.3 but am open to suggestions.

been running a sti radiator cap for a few years and no problems. subaru sold it to me off my vin, so it must be suited to the car!
