Default Whinning noise

Heyy everyone.

Recently noticed a whining noise when accelerating. The more i accelerate the louder the noise. Happens in all gears.

03 WRX.

Everything is stock apart from the muffler and turbosmart BOV. Had both on a while but not noticed the noise being that bad before.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Sounds almost like what I had.
Did your muffler just get put on?
Could be a leaky exhaust flange.

Is the noise like a high pitched whistle when your turbo kicks in, then when you change gears it goes away until the turbo is back under load?

Does it happen when rolling? Ie in neutral at speed can you still hear it?

If its under boost you may have a air leak somewhere or the Bov is leaking or as above it could be your diff or box, most wrx's do have a little bit of box/ diff whine

thanks for all the replys.

had the muffler a few months.

when i change gear it stops till i accelerate again and when in neutral at speed there is no sound.
before the turbo kicks in the sound is there but not as bad, the more i accelerate the louder it gets.

did you have any thing done in the engine bay recently?

a leaky manifold gasket can cause this whine as well
but this often happens when you've taken manifold off and re-used the gasket again
