koyo radiator
 

Ok so my koyo should be here in the next two weeks. Any help you guys can give on fans, hoses and new thermostat would be great, or just any experience you have had with them yourself.

Cant wait to get her in.

Any mods you recomend doing while there?
Added parts that would be better than oem??

make sure you flush the cooling system while the thermostat is out, is the koyo rad supplied with new radiator caps ?, if they are then make sure you check what pressure rating they are and make sure they are rated the same as your original ones

As above give system a good flush. Usually swap out stock hoses for silicone ones while rad out. Fans should bolt straight in but check for clearance from belts.

Check check an check.... :) So i cant go up to 1.3 caps on it after the new rad is in?. an no its not supplied with caps looking an some now.. no doubt the main fill up res will have to be changed too. Just guess it matters on the footing size for what the koyo needs and what the stock tank takes. I'll be doing all the pipes too, just thought maybe a upgrade of fans would help?

no need to upgrade the fans b ecause they should bolt onto the new rad if you have bought the right item for the car. 1.3 bar cap should be fine, you should be able to keep the standard cap for the top tank with out problems

Sweet thanks... Yeah its the right radiator for the job and a total steal at that price i couldnt wait.
I'll prob change the other cap to the same 1.3 just so there is no week spot. Going with the subaru coolant after a nice flush.... Should be good to have it done, Then move on with fitting the bodykit and in to install a few things an tune then im done for at least 6 months when ill look at getting a nice set of coilovers for her.

Looks much better with the new rims on an tyres have been a nice choice

you need to insure that your not mixing coolant types and brands as this a factor for early failure. stray current is also a factor and the web has some good reading on test procedures.

I took the opportunity to fit a low fluid alarm when I had my radiator out, there available at flexi drive in Bentley.
unit off the web, other type of sensors are available.

I might just get that alarm for it, but im always checking oils an coolant. An shes only had subaru coolant in since ive owned it.

so that should help

yeah stray current can be a big problem, it caused big problems in my silvia , havent seen it in a subaru yet, but i guess better safe than sorry is a good way to go

My guess is corrosion based. Think i seen something on it....
