Aren't the EJ257 heads different to the 207 heads? That might be an issue.

You can bolt 2.0l heads onto a 2.5 bottom end, with low comp pistons.
But 2.5l heads on a 2.0l? Think about the different size of the combustion chamber, and thus, the head gasket firing ring, compared to the bore size.
I really don't think it could be done.
2.5 is better day to day anyway, you don't want to have to rev it to 5k to get it on boost.
Forged pistons and rods, for sure. Stock crank should be up to the task, with aftermarket bearings, ACL race series, or Cossie.
I don't think it would need to be sleeved for 360hp?
Get some work done to the heads, and get some decent cams.
Definitely need some bigger injectors to push that power safely.
Then you'll be winning.

YOu don't need to buy a crate engine from the east or the U.S. there are plenty of shops in Perth capable of building a good, strong reliable engine for half the price
Cinaber and Serbaru like this.

I've been through the same problem as you but... my 2.5l was running all the basic mods, tbe, cai, ecu etc etc. Yours however being completely stock... that really sucks... but hey thats the EJ257 for ya! sh1thouse
Would be good but the amount of re-wiring that needs to be done is ridiculous to have it running a 207.

Don't think you need to re wire many parts, I think it's fair straight forward if you use the original inlet manifold( that's where bulk of the wiring is )

One thing though, I wouldn't buy a 207. Backwards step from a a car with a 2.5 and you'd need to check the legalities of putting an older engine into a new car.

Time to weigh up the cost, convenience and lesser downtime of a short versus rebuilding your current engine with a greater downtime?
Next time I'm in Japan, I'll be sure to tell Fuji Heavy Industries to stop putting all those old 2L engines in the S206.

Or is it Australia getting the old left over USA 2.5L units... Hrmm!

I'm aware the STi in Japan is still 2L, but try telling the Transport Department that when you wanna pass it over the pits given it was last in an ADM Subaru in the early / mid 2000's.

Have you tried? Others that have done this have had no issues.
