Well I just got back from the shops, and on pulling into my driveway I see a small amount of smoke rise from the right side of my bonnet, smelt like rubber to me, dad and I checked the tyres, they seem fine, I am thinking a cable of some sought is caught and is touching some part of the moving axle, hence the smoke as a result.

I will be ringing my mechanic tomorrow as this happened instantly after he swapped my wheels and changed my drive belts (Doubt this is what has caused my issue, as it seems to do with the front axle system, the car runs fine )

Seppo - septic tank - yank - American - person from America.
It's wheel nuts, bonnet and boot, not freaking lug nuts hood and trunk.

Pet hate of the Americanism that's gradually coming forth.

No, But a split cv boot will fling grease onto your exhaust, causing a weird burning smell plus a litlle smoke & being a GC there's a good chance your rocker covers are leaking & dripping on to the exhaust heat shields.

My car was just inspected on Friday when the wheels were rotated, Mechanic said nothing is wrong and that he just replaced the drive belts as they were starting to have mini cracks, and from the fact that the clunk is coming from the area of the front right suspension and that it clunks when I turn to the right, leads me to beleive it is suspension related.

If the CV was leaking it would have been noticed on Friday by my mechanic, as well as the rocket covers, which they weren't. So I am eliminating this from the possible cause.

1) CVs don't have to leak to be faulty, but in your case there was smoke, so might want to check that again. Usually as mentioned CV leak or cam cover leak. Check turbo too for any oil leak in that area.

2) I would have assumed that your guy has checked that the bottom links and bolts are tight. I am guessing that it does clunk very occasionally while stationary or at low speeds. So may I suggest under a controlled environment, loosen the top nylocs off 2mm, EDIT: as in 2mm gap between all 3 top nylocs and car body and take it for a low speed turn and see if it still clunks. If it doesn't, then time to chg the front suspension.

Cheers.

The clunking is quite inconsistent and happens more often when turning right compared to when to turning left.
