Default Super charging a ej20 quad cam n/a motor

I have a question regarding a project I am building with the following motor .

jap import 2ltr legacy motor 1990 ( quad cam 16 valve ) the motor is the same as the RS liberty turbo ( or ) RS legacy .Being that the compression is 10.1 ( n/a ) .The block I have is closed deck so I have been told .
motors done less that 2000ks

My ? is I would like to know if the compression ratio needs to be lowered , like a turbo motor ( about 8.1 ) < if thats correct .

& the amount of boost the motor would be able to take .

I have seen the toyota units , but looking at the eaton M90 , this lookes easy for my aplication .

The ( stock ej20 ) is putting out 121hp at the wheels , thats is 640 kgs + me at 95kgs

The motor I have will be going in another project .

cheers seagull

i have seen a similar set up on the net using a super charger from toyota. it is mounted on the drivers side of the bay with custom piping. it was a stock n/a motor in 2L from a us impreza/legacy wagon and ran 6psi. Not huge power potential (150kw max at the fly), but where a turbo builds power as it spools and hits max boost, the supercharger has power from start to finish and produced better figures across the rev range.
set up also uses a longer belt with a tensioner mounted on the block to ensure no belt slippage.

Eatons can run 12-16psi with a pulley change that increases/ decreases the drive ratio. they are available for ecotec v6 commodores. Places like CAPA stock these.

Would be interested in hearing more about this project as i am sure others would too.

How high you can go with boost would depend on whether you decide to run an intercooler.

happy to stand correcting...the Liberty B4's I thought ran 9:1 comp ratio.
BTW
Mercedes run 10:1 supercharged on C, CL, E and their SL range so its very possible with sensible boost levels.

Check out the AMG range (AMG = Sex on wheels in German)

The current model C180 only develops 105kw @ its 10:1 Comp Ratio whilst the C200 using the same 1.8l motor is 120kw @ 9.3:1 but runs higher boost.

The C180K can achieve 175kw with a few tweeks but then why bother...the C 200/230/350/C 55 AMG are what you would have bought if your in this market, I digress...

My point is the supercharged approach has been proven very reliable/effective at high comp ratios and low boost. Go higher boost without reducing comp ratio and its buyer beware. Denver mentioned a "SRM/lysholm style supercharger" on another thread...whats the cost of these units over the Eaton?

happy to correcting you.....a 1990 legacy is NOT a B4, they were "1998 0n", this is the standard motor for Jap Legacy's of that era, I have one in my shitter wagon & combined with an auto it has the power of a 93yo woman.
