Looking at a 2002 wrx tomorrow
It's got head gasket problems, still turns over but it's losing water from radiator & sounds rough according to owner, I'm guessing it could be the radiator leaking from end tank, but that doesn't explain the rough running, where can I buy a combustion leak tester around Perth?
What other engine problems to look for or test? Thanks Steve |
Ask to take it to be inspected at one of these reputable Subaru workshops...

But personally I wouldn't even consider touching anything with the problems you have mentioned. It may be a really costly exercise on your part after buying the car |
exhuast gas will be leaking through the head gasket to the coolant chamber, unless you're getting the car for sub $5k and its got less than 150kkm on the chassis i would forget it, engine out to fix, will defo not be just the radiator if its running rough
check for bubbles in the radiator overflow tank at idle, if you're really keen on the car after confirming its got a bhg, i'd still get it checked by a workshop, budget 5k min for a cheap rebuild |
Lemon, next!

Went to look at it, he wanted to much, body was ok, interior was ok, engine was totally fubar, no oil in it at all, coolant was splashed all over engine bay, proper mess.

How much did he want?
|
If he wants $500 ill take it Tonight
|
The only reason he hasnt replaced the radiator is so it distracts from the blown head gasket.
