Default Wheels for my MY11

Hi everyone. I need some advice. I'm looking to get some 18 inch wheels, new tyres and coilovers.

I can't decide what to get. Enkei Raijin's have the Y spoke I've always dreamed of but it is about ~1kg heavier per wheel.
Enkei Wheels - Tuning Series - Raijin

OZ racing Ultraleggera's are ~1kg lighter but may look very similar to my stock set.

I'm generally performance over cosmetics. Will the 1kg per wheel make a difference?

Cheers!

Offering an alternative here...

Weds Sports TC105N 18x8.5 +44 or +43 or there is a 18x9.5 +35 available.
This and this gives you an idea of what they will look like on the MY11.

They weigh about 7.3 to 7.4kg per wheel and they can be yours landed for a tad bit under $2.5k.

Do you need coilovers or want them?
May I suggest looking at a spring/strut package if you just want to lose a bit of height and dial in some camber?
If you are going to track it and require the adjustments that a coilover can provide, then go for something decent, the KW V3 comes to mind.
Had a chat to John Fowler at Wheels World about them, $2900 installed and aligned, you could get them cheaper from the US most likely, install yourself and get an alignment afterwards.

I want coilovers but the wheels are worth considering. Going back to my initial query, how much difference do the weights of the wheels make?

If you're worried about 4kg, do you have a shit and weigh your clothes before jumping in the car?

Do you only put enough fuel in to get where your going? Do you drain your washer fluid so you have just enough to last until your next pit stop? Running nitrogen in the tyres? Etc etc etc. Wouldn't worry mate

The lighter the better obviously, it all comes down to moment of inertia (ie the heavier the wheel, the harder it is to get it to spin turn etc) which essentially puts more force/shock/load through your suspension/driveshafts etc.

But how much of that will correspond to a car driven on the streets of Perth is debatable, IMO two parts worth of fuck all. If you want it for track work, different story altogether......

Like Huggy said, if driven on the street you wouldn't feel the difference. If you're planning for the tracks however, lighter is always better

Lighter wheels make any suspension work better. However, a Kg on 7 odd won't be that noticeable. However 4Kg will (as noticed when I swapped the OEM GTB rims for Enkeis).

Coilovers - KW V3 are simply brilliant.

Only if you plan on racing full time in a series or targa west etc to win.

1kg weight saving on unsprung weight is equivalent to about 3kg sprung weight. So 4kg for all 4 wheels is about 12kg. Starting to make a difference now, but yeah, probably won't notice it much on the roads depending how you drive.
