Big Brake Upgrade
On an 05 WRX can I do a big brake upgrade just to the fronts or will it upset the balance to much when under heavy braking??

I did brembo's with the normal 2 pot non-sti brakes on the rear, and i didn't have any issues on the street, not sure about the track.
If you did alcons or some other aftermarket brakes on the front, not sure what the outcome of that would be. Save up a little more and buy an entire f/r kit. |

What kit are you thinking of going at the front. Decent size four pots should be fine with the stock rears.
I have looked on line but can't find the answer to my question. Can you adapt front brakes to fit the rears?

I run big 6 pots up front with brembo two pot rears.
Never had any stability issues. Have done a few skid pans with em. Probably had to do some more extreme braking on the street but...

At the last rally sprint we did the driver training session before hand. One of the questions was who here has spent more than $500 in the last 6 months.
The idea was that most modern cars have good brakes, and its more about braking effectively before the corner, not to early or late, and for 4wd accelerating before the apex. A slow in for a fast out, and higher top speed in the next straight. That said, from a WRX I would upgrade to the STi Brembos. They say that the bigger discs can take more heat, but that would also retain the heat for longer. Could brake cooling ducts help?

With enough money, anything is possible, but the short answer is no.
The OP's WRX will have decent size rear brakes, especially compared to most other "performance" cars. I doubt you'd notice any difference if you added brembos to the brake balance, and none at all if you added the godspeed kit. If you do think the fronts are overpowering the rears, you can always add a more agressive pad to the rears to help balance it out.

Lister has big fronts and stock 1 pots on the rear of his gc8. He doesn't have problems. What wrong with the 4 pots though? Seems to me they do good from you track times!
