Default 99 sti lacking power

Hey guys,

Just wanted to get peoples thoughts on an issue I noticed with my car.

Over the weekend I noticed, my car was missing its boost kick. Initially I thought it was my imagination, but after driving it a little more I noticed it definitely was lacking power.

It was quite noticeable before, power started kicking in strongly around 3,000 revs.

I have a feeling it could be a boost leak and checked under the hood, but couldn't find any leaking or popped of hoses.

The bov still goes off, the car pretty much idles fine, you can hear a spool.

Any one have any ideas on what it maybe, or what else I should check. It does however sound like there is a leak under the hood.

Any help would be appreciated, fingers crossed its nothing major

Cheers
D

do you hear a hissing or whoooooop noise when its boosting? do you have a boost gauge fitted, if so does the boost hit a certain point then start to climb slowly or not at all? Is the bov as loud as it used to be? did you do anything before this started happening that may somehow have caused this? could also be afm. unless you got a completely blocked cat.

I think that covers everything i can think of so far.

so we've switched out the AFM, hasn't really made much of a difference, so i'm guessing that's probably not the problem.

went to an exhaust shop today, they got under the car checked temps along the exhaust, the guy said it might be clogged up front, but he doesn't believe this is the problem as the car would struggle reving, which it isn't.

no boots gauge fitted, so it kinda makes it hard to monitor.

The bov goes off, but its no where as loud as it was before.

The only other thing i can think of that happened before this issue arose, was i used the car to jump another car the day before.

Any other thoughts on the matter?

Ok so obviously there is either boost leaking or not building. Try the basics, remove a battery terminal and leave if for 10 min then reconnect or follow the code check guide which will let you know if there is any codes stored and you can clear in a similar way.

Could be a crack in one if the hoses? Not visible but when under boost opens up?

Need more info.
How many km?
Has the car been idled down after running or just switched off?
How long have you owned the car and what is the previous history?
Could be any of the above problems or could be a lazy waste gate, sticky actuator, worn out turbo or an electronic problem.
