I wonder what makes the 2.5L so special...

If it were me, i'd wait for a few other people to test it before people cry dokdok

All those with a pre 2006 subaru can't use that fuel though...according to the FCAI

From what I have seen:

Quote:
IN SUMMARY

DO NOT USE Ethanol Blended Fuel E5 or E10 if your car is:

A Subaru with VIN Number that starts with 7A8
or
Second hand Japanese imported Subaru
or
A New Zealand New Subaru that is any of these models:
- Legacy RS, Legacy GT, Legacy GTB, Legacy RSK and Legacy Blitzen
- Impreza STI
- Forester STI

Your car CAN USE Ethanol Blended Fuel E5 or E10

Only New Zealand new Subarus models 1990 onwards with a VIN number beginning with JF1 or JF2 may use E5 or E10 blended fuels

Note: The VIN number is a 17-digit number that can be found at the bottom of the central door pillar on the passenger side of the car or in the engine bay.

To make things a little easier.

Source -> http://www.unitedpetroleum.com.au/united/fuel

United E10 = 91 RON + 10% Ethanol = 95 RON approx
United P100 = 95 RON + 10% Ethanol = 100 RON approx
United Premium 98 = 98 RON Fuel + 10% Ethanol = ? (not stated)

My understanding is that E10 is 90% regular 91 octane unleaded, mixed with 10% Ethanol. As previously stated, no good for engines requiring 98 octane fuel.
P100, is 90% 98 octane unleaded, mixed with 10% Ethanol. Which seems to come out at around 100RON

Looks like I have to post the link to the FCAI one more time

See page 5 on this thread and also what united says their fuel is(my post+intra's above)

Apparently it's fine for use with any subarus past 2005...calling out for guineas LOL

Didn't I say the exact same thing as Intra? Actually soory my bad, I got the P100 fuel wrong as I believed it to be 98 mixed with 10% Ethanol.

It does not say anything at all about it being fine to use in post 2005 cars. All it states is, you cannot use it in 1999 to 2006 model STI's (& whatever else it lists)

It does say however, all Subarus post 1990 are suitable so long as it meets the model specific octane rating.

The concerns with any mixed fuel where octane is boosted via the additive would be if the ratio or quality of the additive is off then so will be the resultant octane.
