Too true. It pay's to know the history of the car. And a thorough evaluation of the engine and a/c systems before spending dollars. A simple engine vacuum leak for example may cause your engine to behave unfashionably while cycling a/c. The poor ecu trying to accommodate load/no load. Idle up, idle down. Too rich, too lean! Make up your mind already lol.

Ok from what i can gather its an electrical fault or a gas problem , you could be short of gas therefor tripping the compressor out on LP and it may or may not have an auto reset on the LP/HP controller. Or its the electrical side of it causing the compressor to start up every 15 seconds. Either way your compressor is not going to last very long with the constant turning on and off. Your best bet would be take it to a mechanic with a refrigeration licence and ask him/her to check the gas pressures.

Just my 2 cents worth. I could be wrong but i'm just going off what i work with in commercial air cons, but the principles are the same.

Pm me if you have any more questions

Good luck.

Cheers.

OK just checked with my boss and we both agree that your unit has either done its thermal expansion valve (TXV) or its short of gas

what your describing is what we call hunting

Thanks nick,

Hey Jhan94, thanks a lot for that, amazing that you would find out for me. I will read up on that and pm you if I need more assistance...thanks for the offer.

I took the fixed ops manager from peel Subi for a spin on thursday....he acknowledged the tick/ power drop but told me that it was perfectly normal.

I then asked him if it has ever been bought to his attention before...no he reckons...

Anyways I still don't believe em....but I'm going to take another rex for a spin next week.

If I does the same thing I'll concede and admit I'm pedantic....if not ...well then I'll demand the attention required to ensure my driving pleasure is satisfied.

Just an update, as a courtesy for all the help.

I still havent had a chance to get to an auto aircon workshop.

I did take another new 2012/13 rex for a spin the other day...

it did exhibit the same noisey clutch and drop in power as I described was bothering me...

but not as loud by about 1/3.

So for the time being, I'll accept its a normal operating noise/function..pending further investigation ....of course...

Though i still maintain it detracts from my..... 'driving pleasure'...

I think it is much easier if you take your pants off and masturbate furiously if you are so adamant on having pleasure.

All subies do that when the aircon comes on... It starts to idle a bit rough... It's a problem with the factory tune... I got that problem tuned out and now no probs ever
