Dan, just have a chat to them. Ask how much psi was put in there and if they are able to print out a boost and AFR chart for you to look at. I can sympathize with you because as I said, I've been in the exact same position and it leaves you feeling a little flat. However if you were to compare your dyno graph to others with higher horsepower you will find that your mid-range torque will probably be just as good if not better. Think about it... when are you going to be in 4th gear and 6,500rpm on the road?

I'd worry about the horsepower figure if you drag race.
For the street, peak torque and where it falls is more important.

My 2010sti made 262hp on the EvoR dyno @ 20pound with tbe/grimmspeed bcs. I shit my pants when I saw the numbers. I wasn't happy at first. But the numbers are what they are, as it has been said all cars respond differently.

I love the way my car drives now, as for the high psi, we'll just have to wait and see.

Take it back to the tuner if you're not happy I'm sure they will help you out. ASG has a good reputation.

Words below from a far wiser man than me.

Just to be safe u might want to have ur compression tested. Tuning cars on dyno can be abuse to engine.

What's safe partially depends on condition of ur engine, ur tuners ability and how u drive it. Boost ur car from cold start can kill any betty's engine, just saying. Imo, 21psi can still be safe if u have enough mechanical sympathy.

Mine made 240whp with stock map. Evor's dyno reads pretty low btw.

Yeah asg and Evo r are about on par for dyno readings it's just there tunes usually get a couple more psi wound in.

[QUOTE=dangriffin87;788693]I have had a new turbo bk exhaust fitted along with a new boost solenoid and a tune.

My car is a my11 sti, it feels like it has not gained any power it actually feelers smoother and the turbo doesnt punch no more, they told me it already had be tuned and they needed to unlock the ecu and then they tuned it. Its running at 239 hp at the wheels which does not seem alot at all to me!!

At a guess the previous tune was boost spiking which some people love but is the path to detonation and fitment of a new short block.
Currently in this hot weather you will not see high HP figures due to the hot intake temps.

Also the turbo does not punch when it comes in now and when it does the boost solenoid ticks so loud. I cannot hear the turbo anymore either. I dobt think they raised the boost at all, what is a safe boost level for them to raise it to?

Looking at the dyno plot the Manifold pressure which is to the far left is peaking at 114 Kpa which converted is 16.50 psi so the boost pressure has indeed been raised.
The ticking will be a exhaust pulse resonance from the new dump pipe which is not as insulated as the factory unit .( i could hear it on my stock dump which amplified when my butler system went on)

Can someone give me there opinion on this matter?

Thanks

Dan[/QUOTE

Did you change the pump at the same time the other mods were done?
It is normal practice to limit boost pressure with a standard pump due to the need for more pressure/volume required which will quickly max out the max duty of the standard unit.

As far as I know its not a problem on gr. My last tune made 270whp at 19psi, my mate made 295whp (1000cc injector)at 22 psi on oem pump.

Ive seen a 08sti with cracked ringland that tuner has to retard timing to avoid further damge, which resulted only 290whp with td06-20g, but his peak torque and power were very close unlike op's dyno graph. Give mao a call just to get a second opinion maybe?

Im pretty sure that boost was only set to 16 psi, u guys think this is the reason for the low hp?

Most likely. But asg should tuned many car beyond that. Give sean a call first. And get a aos/catch can asap to reduce blow by which can cause knocking.

ASG shouldn't tune a car beyond that, if that is what Sean thought was a safe setup to run then why would he tune it beyond its limits?
