Butler Built dump pipe ? & photos

Hey guys,
So I've got this Butler Built 3 inch TBE that came off a 2011 forester automatic, I'm going try to have it fitted up to my rex. My main question is reference the pics of the dump pipe. Apparently this is the secret weapon of the Butler exhausts. I'm not really qualified to make any assertions on performance aspects but ... I have noticed the roughness of the edges and particularly the gap between the outside of the 'splitter insert' and the inside wall of the dump pipe. My question is ....is there likely to be any performance gains from having that gap filled (welded or other method??) And is it worth while to de-burr all the rough spots in general. Also....as you can see by the black carbon out line, this dump pipe does not open to sit flush with the edge of the turbo.... As opposed to a invidia or xforce bell mouth....( this is an assumption only as I've only seen photos of those units.) Can anyone explain the idea behind this? Any opinions or explanations on this design would be great. |

Found this posted a few years ago by waxdass
"Butler design is a splitter system - but has a marginal opening for the wastegate section. The idea is - the wastegate is held shut longer to allow for faster boost generation." Any further explanations? |

Oh my...To be honest, posting these pictures as I'm quite shocked to see this after general feedback I hear of how "good" that local built one is.
Invidia quality wins hands down here...or am I mistaken and this non flush wonky splitter plate a trade secret that makes it better that has just been made public? woops |
How can you tell the quality wins hands down by comparing two iPhone spec photos that show fuck all to two catalogue photos.
Shut the fuck up. |
Cheers seagull....it a good explanation....I've seen that previously and understand the splitter theory...
I'm specifically concerned with the Bulter design though .. Anyone care to respond to RJ999 cynical sarcasm? |
XT, was just an opinion... and based on this one particular picture, no need for rage, I'm probably wrong.
All I've heard is good things about Butler, hence why saying this picture shocked me. |
