crankcase breather blocked off

1 Attachment(s)
I noticed when i was changing the rocker cover gasket last week that out of the 2 breathers on the rocker cover one was blocked off.. its the one that connects to the middle crankcase breather under the throttle body and then connects to the other rocker cover in the same line.
Why would they be blocked off?
Is this bad?
Can it do damage?

Anyone know anything about this?

My guess is someone;
Put a catch can in (poorly),
Lost the original bits,
Took it out
Blocked of the ports to replace lost bits

Has it got a catchcan/air oil separator or any evidence one may have been removed? Are the hard lines for the breather system still there?

Wouldn't be ideal in my eyes...

Yeh its got a 2 port catch can the top port goes to the other crankcase breather thats under the turbo.. and the bottom port is t pieced.. one end goin to passenger rocker cover and other end goin to the passenger side of the black breather pipes on the tmic..
And no the hard lines are missing..
Doesnt seem ideal to me either

Pcv.

I recently had a problem where if I did a hard acceleration there would be a cloud of smoke from the exhaust 2 or 3 seconds afterwards. I thought maybe the turbo had a problem but the internet hinted that a blocked PCV breather could cause smoke. I disconnected the catch can and left the breather tube open to atmosphere and went for a drive up and down the street. No smoke, problem solved! The catch can does have a sight glass level indicator but I couldn't see anything. I'll remove it and have a closer look, the sight tube is a bit yellowy and not clear. Its a relief to know the turbo is ok.

Edit: Can someone explain to me why it smokes with a blocked breather?

I don't know why they are capped off but it is done at the factory on some models.

The RA cases I got off Stace to do my build had the centre breather capped.

I have utilized it on my motor now though and I'm running a catch can because I run high-ish boost (1.6 bar).
