The timing belt has jumped teeth. It appears to have moved towards the front plastics and has rubbed through the plastics and in turn has shredded the timing belt. The timing belt has been removed to further investigate the cause. It appears the driver’s side head has an issue as the cams are very hard/ stiff to rotate.

So this is where it sits until we get the go ahead to go further into it...

What a complete and utter pain in the arse, luckily you have a enough mechanical knowledge to not let them pull the wool over your eyes.

It wouldn't surprise me....

I have had this car since late November and have done less than 5000Kms because its spent more time in a workshop than in my garage. Of course I am pissed off! But I do know these things happen from time to time and getting angry will not solve the problem...

I have a great workshop working on it at the moment whom I had been in contact with since the start of the original ring land problems back in December. The guys share the knowledge and have been nothing but helpful in the situation arising.

Motor is coming out because of seized cams on one side. Engine will be stripped for full investigation and quote for repair.

Was the engine making noises before the belt got damaged, i hear every noise my car makes, and i know the noises that any belt rubbing would make, especially if it was rubbing on the timing cover.

I didn't hear anything unusual. I am very particular when it comes to noises also. I have barely been driving it as it's my wife's daily car. I haven't seen the timing cover where it worn into them yet. A lot of black fluffy stuff suggests it was only just skimming it? It's still at the workshop and I wouldn't expect to get an outcome until next week sometime

If the workshop asks, your wife didn't drive it :P
