If u can, get Showgun's my12 STI. I can guarantee, u wont regret. $50000, Td06-20G, 365whp, 500wtq. only done 25000km. Perfect compression test result.

5k extra gets you Tino's car....

good to see you upping the power on it, should be a good unit once the new turbo is bolted up

Not true, after I bought the bugeye I wish I went equivalent STi, but not with the RS 40 vs same year STi. Same with the current (new) models, I have a hunch that the FA engines will be better long term the the old EJ 2.5's.

I was having all these same thoughts.. oh I want a bigger turbo, oh I want a six speed eventually, oh what about the brakes.. Nek Minit pulled into Subaru Melville and Traded in my 08 (literally signed the paperwork on the spot). Best decision of my life.... well actually I probably would've gone with something second hand instead of getting arse raped on a 70k car, but that's another story.

If you only want that 300hp mark, then a VF52 and standard bolt on mods (PM me if you want a complete list of what I used) will do it at 18psi with good response and cheaper than using an upgraded turbo. E85 will get you to ~350hp. I'd rather spend the savings on a decent clutch, mine struggled at 300awhp. I've not heard of too many 5 speeds in the gen 3's going bang, I reckon they are a pretty capable unit these days.

If you want to go beyond that 350ish mark, then you are starting to get into built engine / bigger turbo / 6 speed territory.

huggy - did you ever post a dyno chart of that 300 mark because I don't ever remember seeing one. Why not post your shopping/mods list in the thread for benefit of future users?

I would be very, very surprised if you get an 08 ej255 to hit 300 with a VF52. No-one can categorically outline any differences but I'm certain the 08 blocks are spuds. A couple of people over east over the years have run VF52's in their 08's and not gotten close to 300 and as we all know there are a lot of disney dynos over there. Just can't see it happening personally.
