Starving for fuel
Hi all,
I need to pick your brains about an issue I currently have with my bug-eye STI. Under relatively brisk acceleration, usually around corners, I am experiencing some sort of fuel starvation that causes the car to stall altogether. From all of the receipts that I received when I purchased the car recently, it has a Walbro fuel pump and an Ecutek tune. After the car is left for half an hour or so, it usually starts again. Any ideas? It will be taking a trip to MMS at some stage soon (when the funds permit it), but I'd like to tackle it if it's a possible easy fix. Cheers, Jez. |

Starving for fuel
Was told by the last owner that it has been disconnected. However, the keypad is always illuminated. Is that normal?

I had never considered that tbh. It only occurs around corners though. Would that have any impact on the valet mode? Will need to do some reading up on the Brant system. Have heard that they are a fair pain in the arse...

Valet mode still keeps the anti hijack feature active and cuts the car out. It just means that every 11 starts you need to enter the pin code (this is if it has been put into valet mode) I would take it to one of the reputable workshops and have them take a look at it.

How much fuel is in the tank? Subaru's are prone to fuel surge at about a 1/3 of a tank of juice - if chucked into a corner hard enough.
Could also be the fuel pump module as the Bug's have a funky fuel pump controller.

I've never had to put a pin in, so not sure what's going on there. Might still get the brant system replaced with something a bit more user-friendly.

Fair point Rossco. Most times that it's happened, it might have been around a touch under half a tank. I should keep the fuel level above half and see how it goes.

I used to get radom surge at 1/2 tank in my Wrx and almost guaranteed at 1/4 tank when out doing the rally sprints or a few laps around Collie motorplex track. Fixed this buy running surge tand and additional 044 external fuel pum. In saying this though this may not be you problem best to take car to workshop of your choice for a look over.
