clunking noise
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all
i am sure this has been asked many times now possibly, but every now and then i change gears and i can hear a clunking noise right under the gearbox area. I cant tell if its the exhaust hitting the side of the centre of the diff enclosure or perhaps the mounts have gone. If i put my foot down quite hard i get a bit of a clunking noise too from the same area. it doesnt do it all the time so to me that wouldnt hint at gearbox/clutch issues? however when the car starts doing it, i clutch in and the noise goes away, then clutch out and its back again, may last for 2-3 seconds... is it a good idea to look at replacing mounts in that area? what should i be looking at doing? gearbox mounts? clutch bushings? Also, can someone look at the photo attached and tell me if its the engine mount? i have noticed that the part does move a bit while the car is idling. perhaps my mounts are bad? should their be movement between the gap? |
As a side note, sometimes the clunking is there when I turn my steering wheel while driving, cars done 183000 and pretty much stock, never thumped with gear changes etc
