IMHO, water meth injection is GHEY!!! If you tune to take advantage of it and any of the parts of your kit fail and dont deliver the water/meth mix....tick tick tick BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I looked into it and wouldn't touch it due to potential reliability issues. Alternatives would be improved intercooling, race fuel tunes, bigger turbo, flow work, anyhting that gives an honest increase in performance. The only time I would consider water/meth is if you were just using it for reliability and cooling intake temps without advancing timing or upping boost to make more power...but why bother..

I agree that water/meth is great for keeping things nice and safe. When I ran it during the dutton, my tune wasn't changed but the water/meth helped keep things in check on the 40°C days.

In terms of reliability of components, there is a fair argument that if something along the line fails and your cranking 25psi at the time then it's going to end in tears. I would suggest though that there are a few simple steps you can take to ensure you always know wats going on... eg. pump active LED (so you know the pump is working), Water evel indicator (so you know when your out of meth), knock light (so you know if the engine is in trouble) and maybe an exhaust temp gauge. And naturally you'd have a look at the system every now and then to make sure its all operating happily.

If the system is set up safely then there are real gains to be had

my 2 cents

Cheers
Alex

But blaise with that thinking... what if your fuel pump fails ? an injector clogs up etc... if a kit is built and installed properly, surely its no more risky than winding up the boost ?

Tackle water/meth injection once you are reaching the limits of your turbo, and you dont want to get a bigger one...Really, Alex (Getagrip that did our driver training) has got something along these lines on his car, I dont know alot about it except it's like one of the last things you do, cheaper and better ways to make tha power

Not sure if he still on here but he had a blue 04 STI? with bronze works XT7 rim before it was sold
He was running water meth injection kit tuned at ASG, I may be wrong tho
but other than that I dont know anyone else in perth running it in a subie

Its some what big in the states heaps of info on NASIOC, IWSTI etc

Might be easier to run E85 and get it tuned

Having dealt with a supercharged LS1 running meth/water injection my advice is don't bother and get an E85 tune or better intake cooling instead.

Just too many places for something to go wrong.
