Im quite sure the 99-00 WRX was 8.5:1 while the 99-00 STI was 8.0:1
K double checked and I am incorrect. 8.0:1 on both the MY99-00 STI and WRX. 9.0:1 on 03+ wrx.

yep editted my post as well...just shows there are so many options.
BTW has anyone got any first hand experience from fitting a VF** series on a vanilla model MY03 or later 9:1 compression engine? You would think it could pull some pretty good numbers if you could keep it from pinging?

Perfourmance built my short block... oldest 2.5 in perth and its an N/A 2.5 liberty block originally... they basically made it a closed deck machine.

Depending on how competent and honest your mechanic is will determine how many unforseen circumstances you encounter. If you choose your mechanic carefully these problems can be kept to a minimum...its the second engine rebuild within a year that hurts
__________________ That is RIGHT on the money, there are several builders out there that dont know what there doing (speaking from experience). Imo if u want to rebuild a EJ20, u might as well just buy a new sti short block that comes standard with forged pistons. Why fork out all that extra money, when u could have a workshop fck it up and you loose out. The EJ207 will take all the abuse u could throw at it. |
