Mine died at 20,000kms. Only owned it for a few months and it started slipping. Car was previously an 'executive demo' for Subaru. Obviously they didnt give a shit about who/how it was driven.

I wasnt driving like knob or the likes. Explained the scenario to Subaru, who said they "will look at it and see if its something they can cover". So they 'looked at it' told me it was my fault as I cant prove it wasnt, and will charge me for the labour of even looking at it.

Needless to say, lost that battle $1700 later. But they have lost all business from me for servicing, parts etc.

Ive driven it for now over 30,000k's on the new clutch, with absolutely no problem at all. I mean how do you even fry a cluth in 20,000km's!

I don't 'nanna' it around, but I don't abuse it either. To give an example, I used to have a little Satria GTi when I was about 20 and I thrashed the sh!t out of that - used to do burnouts and traffic light drags all the time. I realise we're talking FWD vs AWD here but the clutch held up until 130k kms in that before it started slipping. My partner recently sold her 2004 Ford Focus at 215k kms and it had never had the clutch done, and she is not what I would call mechanically sympathetic.

My car does absolutely not get driven like that - it occasionally gets a higher-speed run out in the country but certainly nothing like how I used to drive - 12 month license suspension a few years ago calmed me down, and there's far too many highway patrol in my area to go hooning around all the time!

ive never mechanically broken anything in 3.5 years of rex ownership. except killed 2 organic clutches in the first year. i dont nanna, i dont race. same deal as you mate.. just saying its not uncommon for them to give in. everyone here trolled me for apparently thrashing my car too. im just saying that i call bullshit on any rex owner that acts like they've never dumped their clutch. id say if you dump it at revs and the wheels dont spin your murdering your organic

I cooked one down to the metal and started burning the bolts in about 30k, wasn't an OEM one though. No launches, riding. All i can think of is rev-match down shifting and the occasional track day which was never clutch smoking abuse. I am mechanically sympathetic for the most part.

Was a surprise to me when we pulled it out. Got one of S-Techic's 6 speed HD clutches now. See how that goes.

Maybe they just didn't make them like the used to. More money to them & suppliers if they make them wear quicker. #clutchconspiracy

I had my clutch in a 06 Sti replaced under warranty ( used car dealership) when it went 3weeks after buying it.

Launching. Doug reckons a launch will take 10,000km off the life of an OEM clutch. Could be an exaggeration for the lols, but you get the point

MY11 WRX with 64,xxx km on original clutch.
Have been a number of launches when participating in skid pans and the rest has been either spirited or sedate driving.
No issues with clutch feel, movement or engagement.

Either way, that was a decent bill to replace it!

As what Hurtenstein said, I've done this since day one in my the previous car (MY08) and current car without issues.
