I've disabled the hill start feature on my wrx as you're right - you end up over revving and it's just a pure pain in the neck unless you can't do a hill start in a manual car It's a simple thing to switch off.

So this is the (hopefully) final update.. got the bushing fitted successfully by Subaru on Thursday morning. They still managed to fail to tell me that I needed to bring the car in an hour early to allow the exhaust to cool, even though I only had to drive it approx 2.5km to the workshop.. worst part about the extra wait was that the coffee vending machine ran out of milk and noone there had any idea how to fill it up, they usually make one of the receptionists from the dealer (500m up the road) come down and do it... it really is like a circus in there!

Anyways I've adjusted the Cobb short shifter to slightly shorter height and very short throw and together with the bushings it has made a huge difference to how the car feels on a spirited drive. Easy to adjust and very solid, highly recommended little upgrade there!
