Endlinks?

I've got a quote from Wilkinsons Suspensions to upgrade the swaybars, install a ALK and an alignment in my MY11 STI. I was wondering if I should get the endlinks done too?

Any of you suspension guru's here reckon I should get endlinks done as well? Any other suspension mods?

Not going coilover atm, and leaving the springs stock too for the time being.

Got quoted 24mm front & 22mm rear adjustable bars. All whiteline gear.

Cheers

If you are selling your stock rear (should be 19mm) I will gladly take it off your hands.

ALLPAWS 24-03-2015 01:55 PM

Do the end links as well. How much are they charging to supply the swaybars?

$1403 for the lot, including endlinks. Don't know the breakdown of the swaybars.

For fitment consideration, u only need front endlink.

For the sake of quality, stay away from any whiteline products with a ball joint, endlink, roll centre kit etc. My WL endlink's rubber boot didnt last more than a year.....

Two sway bar should cost u around 600. fitting should be 2hr worth of workshop labour. Have a look this:

If u wanna buy local, and dont wanna buy from other whiteline dealer, ie evolution r. Repco can get u any whiteline gear for a good price too.

If your current end links are plastic then upgrade them for sure.

Personally think $1400 is a bit rich..
Buy kit yourself and fit or as Gordon mentions, others can do the work.
And yes I'd do links aswell.

ALLPAWS 24-03-2015 03:34 PM

Yeah, what Gordan said. I would be jumping for joy
If someone handed me $1400 to supply and fit bars
and links.

RichX 24-03-2015 04:33 PM

Not much point point doing sways if the end-links are soft or weak.

nick73 24-03-2015 04:48 PM

I don't think the price is that bad.

Rear sway bar with diff mounts is $300 plus fitting
Front sway $300 plus fitting
Alk $160 plus fitting
Four wheel alignment $180 ish

Forgot endlinks $360 plus install.

So $100 left over for install.
Prices from online Whiteline store. I'm guessing Wilkinsons are not quoting those catalogue prices

I dont wanna make myself look like I get commission from Mao. But he can get both sways fitted for 600, and link is 170 per pair. $80 for a wheel alignment...

using the Perth-WRX mobile app

Good call, easy to forget how quickly things add up. Sounds like a decent deal accounting for install to me.

I think that ship sailed a while back.

Cheers guys!
So Whiteline stuff is not that great?
What else should I be looking at?

Cusco swaybar, both landed for $530 shipped from Cusco warehouse

There r so much more choices and cheaper options if u know where to look at.

More middle man involved, higher the price will be. Ie, WL factory -> custom -> master distributor -> workshops ->customers. Middle man can be skipped ;)

Perrin endlinks from CMA

ALLPAWS 24-03-2015 09:49 PM

Mao did a great job on my old bugeye with bars and links for half the bloody price of that Wilkinsons quote. Now I have access to a hoist I can do it myself, but seriously, if you want bars and links installed I can do it for a grand, let me know which brands u want to use . . .

TROLLEY 25-03-2015 02:14 AM

I got my Whiteline sways through Gordon's favourite garage for a great price. Less than a week after installation, there was a clunking noise coming from the front when going over bumps and on some turns. When my car was in for service the following week, my mechanic informed me that the front sway was the incorrect one. It was too short and the end-links were stretched and failing. *groan* I even did the homework and gave them the correct serial numbers for the parts to order... still managed to get it wrong!

As Gordon mentioned (and Doug will tell you the same thing), a lot of Whiteline's stuff gets pretty noisy, especially their ALK kits. The sways will be fine, but I'd look to Perrin and Cusco for other bits and pieces.

Zombee 25-03-2015 07:13 AM

and this is why I'm on the forum.

In between all the shit flinging and banter, the information you seek is there.

Thanks guys, very much appreciated. :D
