Power steering pump

I have to replace another power steering pump. The last one was an absolute ripoff from suby ($1600 or something ridiculous) Who here has bought a generic one, if so from where and any probs?

Also need to do rear brake pads, whats current flavour for a daily?
Cheers AL

why do you need top replace it? is it leaking? I can rebuild it for you if you like. I have to do my own one actually...

Daily brake pads for rear... literally go bendix ultimate or a QFM street series

Spektre, what would you charge to re-build one, mine stopped working fully about 6 yrs ago, before that if you gave it a rev it would sort of work and since putting wider tyres on it's like parking a truck.

I have had a spare sitting in the boot for about 5yrs, I was told it has been re-built but is noisy so being lazy I've never really gotten around to fitting it, I can drop and pick up but I'm stuck in Thailand for the next couple of weeks.

Thx, pm if you want to or can do it, it's the triangular V3 STI model.

Try here https://partsouq.com genuine parts and fast shipping. Prices in USD but still cheaper than a dealership.

I rebuilt my Liberty GT pump for $20 in parts.

Cheers, well I've done some research and it looks like the 06sti ones are rebuildable as spectre mentions, basically seals and a bearing. Its only just weeping so a seal kit should suffice. Can you give me an idea on price to rebuild also pls spectre.

Went with the QFM pads - same as I what I put on the front. Cheers cob!

Trust me... There is nothing hard in rebuilding the power steering pump if it is similar to the Liberty pump. $20 of o rings from Welshpool and an hour or two and bam. Done. Hardest part was jacking up the car to prime the steering.

$36 from Blackwoods for the really good o-rings that are immune to power steering corrosion...

easy really. think i followed this one.... DIY: Power Steering Pump Rebuild - NASIOC

the gc8 ones would be similar but i would have to pull it apart and see what the od of the rings are.

I will phone blackwoods to get the list of rings i ordered as it is in my old work email...

I think that I used that thread too. You don't even need the instructions. I just kept pulling different areas of the pump apart until I had used all of the o rings bought from their list.

Mate picked up a brand new one from US at just over $400 inc shipping for his Betty in the last 6 months.
