Cosworth The resale/rebranding, Brand!

Whats up with this brand unless its a built engine, most of there products are rebranded items.

Look Cosworth has History of R&D back in the day but is today just company that rebrand other company's products and charge an extra 70-200 USD more then other products that are same.

The name sells obliviously, would you pay extra just to have "Cosworth Parts" In your car ?

There are 3 case I've came accross but I'am sure they are plenty more by all means respond :)

-Carrillo H connecting rods

-K&N Air intake

-Gates timming belt

also nameless products for the brz?

Sorry for this Rant/stab at Cosworth. It's anoying if you ask me when a company with a brand name just slaps the logo on other company's products and charging extra instead of making innovating new products.

Again Im sure they actually make something themselves ie engine stuff? :/

Great point. Even when looking at a full cosworth long block there is not that much different from stock that would justify the price premium.

Someone said it in another thread but when building an engine it is prudent to spend money where it makes the biggest difference to performance or durability. Cosworth parts don't alway align with best performance to cost ratio.

I used to envy a full cosworth engine but there are not many that are used in my respected group of high power and reliable cars. Give me an AMS or IAG build any day....

Issues with the blue belts are
The blue comes off and picks up on the idler bearings. I have see the tensioner bolt snap & pull out of the mount due to this.

Stay clear of them

Many, MANY, businesses do this, at sometimes much higher price variables then you've mentioned.

Look at Grimspeed for example.

Appreciated! I'm not fussed with colour but the Gates has good price stronger then OEM.

Want something stronger then stock if going to be running more power.

I look into The Tomei one same price as oem i think roughly 300 Aud and theres also the sti branded for 500 but fuck that....

Edit STI timming belt 200 from RHD japan which is the one im going for.

For what it's worth I have had no issues with my oem belt and 325hp.

Awesome have you changed it yet? was gonna pm you

my thoughts are if I'm going to change it might aswell put something stronger since oem belt would be designed for oem outputs and since tuning will affect timing.

I'm just over cautious person its my first car so I want to keep forever if you can understand that logic :)

someone can correct me but .. i've never heard of the timing belt being a performance option. i don't think its something you will ever need to 'upgrade' unless you are building a 500whp+ monster which i'm assuming you are not doing. stick with the oem from subaru :)
