Repair or replace semi slicks ?
Hey guys during the SOWA cruise got unlucky coped a screw to the tyre. either slow leak or not leaking at the moment
Can it be patched? being softer compound that see's rac quite often I cant imagine its ideal or is it fine? Tyres are hankook rs3's if that's any consultation. |
If it's not in the side wall it will be fine....
|
Yep, as above.

Yeah awesome thought so, lucky its in the middle and not in an angle.
My older brother told me otherwise hence the thread. |
Tyre needs to be removed and patched properly from the inside. I had one done in one of my r-comps and have had no issues with it, done plenty of laps since the repair.

nick suggestion sounds better to me. id be a bit hesitant doing a standard tubeless repair on semi slick / racing compound tyre. just given how hard they have to work and the temps they see vs a regular street tyre.
Probs go to a specialist tyre shop aswell like kosteras or wheels world as i dont think your average local tyre shop would be competent to do and/or advise on this sort of thing. |
Tyre was removed and patched from the inside with a mushroom style patch and plug with glue etc. Tyre shop were well aware of them being race tyres. This was not a standard type puncture repair I was told.

i do this everyday at work . and we have cars come back at nearly 40.000ks after a tyre repair and the dont drop pressures at all . just if its to close to the sidewalls then you have a problem
using the Perth-WRX mobile app |
Apologies for the thread hi-jack but just today I've found a screw head sticking out of my right front tire ... it's right between the tread blocks so it should be repairable. Can anyone recommend someone in Osborne Park who can fix this please?
Cheers, Wrxpc |
I had a puncture repaired at city discount tyres in ossie park (big green building), cost $35 (2 puncture holes though) and about 30 minutes wait.
Also recently had a good experience with tyre wholesalers direct on frobisher street. Rolling diameter matched, on the spot quote, fitted and balanced all in 30 mins. Overall very happy with their service. Call them and if they do puncture repairs get a quote from them too. |
