Default Power Steering Pump Rebuild / Wheel Bearings Replacement

Hey Guys,

My MY04 STi has started making a creaking noise when turning after starting up [coming out of parking bays], and then after that a continuous squeaking noise occurs whilst driving normally [straight line cruising]. From what I've read on here I think the startup creaking noise is my wheel bearings and(or) bushings being worn and needing replacement, and the squeaking noise is because of a power steering belt or 'o' ring that needs to be replaced/rebuilt.

I've got the car booked into the Subaru Wangara shop for its 125000km service next week, I'm guessing there going to pick up on it and quote me to fix. Now the actual service itself they were cheap with and beat prices of other garages i had quoted so I'm hoping they're not going to try and screw me too bad, but in preparation has anybody else had this problem and whats the maximum i should be paying them to fix these issues?

tyi

P.S is it safe for me to drive my car in the meantime?

Just because they quote you cheap for a "service" doesn't mean you won't get screwed. They will charge you maximum dollar for everything they find over and above a standard oil and filter change Take it to a Subaru specialist workshop. Blue star is in Wangara or Stechnic if you are SOR.

+1 for STechnic or blue star.

Your car is safe to drive.

I'd bet a few bushes need greasing and your struts/shock absorbers might need a look over.

Internet experts will never be as accurate as a Subaru specialist.

UPDATE: this video describes exactly what the noise is when I'm driving; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLNk_qhC2kw.
However I'm still yet to suss out what the creaky noise is when pulling out of a parking spot, could be related to the faulty CV
