I would offer for you to listen to mine except for two things. These being; I have now fitted 1.5 scroll equal length headers and the second being that my engine is broken and about to be swapped in a weeks time.

There are plenty of high quality sound files on the web though. This is one of the benefits of buying a mass manufactured exhaust. You know exactly what sound you will get.

Agricultural and back-yardish? You're comparing an individual's hand made exhaust/welds to that of a machine pumping out mass produced exhausts.

Norm's exhausts sound alright, but not much volume. I recently replaced the oval muffler I got with my Butler exhaust and now I have too many louds

My butler dump pipe flange is very thin, cat melted off housing, crushed itself. Other flange have plenty rust, maybe not stainless steel? Twin tip r welded on single outlet, really should have a y pipe.

Invidia is a japanese brand made in taiwan.

Hand made may conjure up images of boutique and bespoke artistry but if you look at an exhaust on a Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini....they won't look like a Buttler. Machine made is in this case precision application and consistency.

I dont jerk my gherkin to exhaust welds. If it sounds good, makes power and doesn't break then it's all good. ☺

You can do what you like with your gherkin. Small players don't have the resources to flow test designs.

Go to a workshop that fabricates exhaustes and see what they come up with .. Chop and change what you like and find what suits you . I'm heading there for mine as couldn't find what I wanted .... By the quotes I was given its cheaper too .

Not exactly what I was alluding to, and one would be stupid to think a local exhaust fabricator would be that.

And that is what I am talking about. Of course a hand welded anything is going to look "agricultural" compared to a precision machine. Unless the welds start breaking away and leak, then who cares what it looks like unless the car is on stands with mirrors underneath in readiness for Perth Auto Salon 2003.

As for flow testing, I can't really point out any patterns of Invidia-powered cars or whatever other brand name exhaust you want to throw out there outperforming those with a Butler dump/exhaust. He seems to be making them pretty damn good considering he's a "small player".

Having said that I wouldn't get one made by him these days if I were in the market for an exhaust because there is now a lot of alternatives on the market. 5-6 years ago there weren't many choices.
