Default Original Head Gasket Thickness EJ255?

Given the sticky head gasket selection chart doesn't cover a circa 2009 model EJ255 semi closed block can anyone CONFIRM the original gasket thickness?

I keep finding conflicting values, if anyone has a table with the Aus spec 2.5L hg thickness please link away. I will update with some CNC closed deck and forged build photos as reward

Thank you!

Manley rods, JE 99.75mm -26cc pistons, EJ255, 79mm crank, ACL Race Bearing, EJ20 heads with Kelford 264/264 cams and springs. With Cosworth 0.78mm head gaskets now confirmed!

Nice I presume you have plugs for the case bolt holes?

Dazza- Yes, I have to get some dowels for the block, otherwise I am not sure what you mean?

Thanks Steve, its not the prettiest CNC work I have seen but thats the best we can get in Canberra. I had 2 blocks done at the same time 😀. The next build will probably be a destroked 2.5 at 2.34L thanks to the parts I have left over.

Cheers Morgan.

I'm referring to the recesses for the case block bolts.

Yours don't look to have too much meat round them which is where the OEM blocks are prone to cracking. Like this before and after shot of one that failed.

The solution I've seen to this is to have a cap that screws into the CDB insert after the block halves have been bolted together which increases the strength where you need it most.

Obviously if you're not going for massive power then it shouldn't be an issue but just thought it worth mentioning as its better to be aware of these things pre build rather than post build.

Thanks Dazza, I like that design. This build wont see power levels high enough to worry about.

Should still be good for more power than most. Good luck with the build.
