Shifter popped out of white cup bit?
 

Hey had an interesting issue where my shifter popped out of the White cup cradle bit during driving and noticed the o ring at The top had a gap in it (wasn't a full circle)

But there was also no interior circlip locking ring like there was in my liberty's 5MT, is this normal?

Had to drive the car home in second gear as I couldn't shift into anything higher without it popping out :/
TL;DR is this common and what needs replacing

It happened in my WRX before, but that was because I managed to split the basket in two. I would think there should definitely be a circlip holding it in. Call up the parts department of your local dealership, they should be able to send you through a diagram for the assembly.

Going to get a new o-ring and a circlip to keep it in there for good, fortunately my basket is in good condition :)

EDIT: it appears that actually from having a short shifter in there for a while it has worn out the basket and stopped it holding as tightly, so I'm going to get a new one from partsouq

Going to get those new bits hopefully it will hold tight after that
