Hi there,
First post by me ![]() I've searched all over and cant find a answer. Im currently in the middle of doing a full JDM v7 ej207 swap into my 1999 Gc8 and i've done quite a bit of research and what not about the swap and so far its gone smoothly (fingers crossed). However, i believe the JDM bugeye sti had a climate control unit whereas the gc8 wrx has a manual one. Now honestly im a complete novice when it comes to wiring, but im not afraid to give it a go ahaha. The car will be used as a daily therefore i really want the aircon to be working ofcourse. Also i will be retaining the gc8 dash just because i got it already and the GDB dash didn't come with the halfcut. Also i do prefer the more classic look :P I will be swapping pretty much everything besides the dash and center console Here are my series of questions: Is there a way to get the manual aircon unit to work? (preferred option if this works) If i can get my hand on the v5/v6 sti climate controls including heater blower and fan unit will that plug and play into the GDB loom? ^ If that is possible, what parts will i need? heater blower, fan unit, sensor (is that all?) My other option is to get a GDB heater/blower unit and retrofit that behind the GC8 dash, however this requires cutting a hole in the firewall (not really a fan of this). has anyone ever done this? What kind of hardships did you face? How hard is it to fit behind the gc8 dash Now i know that there will be some splicing required to connect up the loom to the rest of the car (windows, interior light etc..) but will i be alright with the GDB dash loom connecting up to the gc8 dash? (cluster, all buttons etc) or am i missing something very critical here. Any input will be greatly appreciated ![]() Thanks! Martin |

Had to re-read your post. So you are attempting full engine, loom and ECU swap, but looking to retain GC dash and instrument cluster?

These kind of loom splices can be very tedious and time consuming to work thru. Good luck

MY99 had "manual" as you say, but my GC8 MY00 Sti has climate control (ie: set the temp and forget, and matching dash controls). Note sure if the WRX in MY00 had it also.
So... there was some guy (not on here I don't think) who did fit the climate control from a MY00 back into a MY99. There might be some tips if you can find that post on the interwebs. It may help, or it may not. but worth mentioning. ![]()

I kinda prefer the classic interior more than the bugeye and at the same time want my aircon to work. The option to swap a full gd dash and heatercore in is still there but just seeing as to what my options are to fitting my gc8 dash and cluster which i already have and also save some cash.
