Red face Pinging at 13psi on stock ecu. Fuel cut defender?

Hey guys
Just put a few bits on the 99GT fozzy and getting hardcore ping at 13psi?
I'm thinking fuel cut defender?? Not sure. Can anyone help??
Recently fitted a
-td04
-ces divorced downpipe
-3" stainless exhaust w/ supercat hi flow cat
-xforce cannon muff
-turbo smart manual dual boost controller (set at 9 & 13psi)
-hks ssqv bov
-hi flow fuel pump
-silencer delete & cold air induction
And new plugs and leads, all filters etc (major service)
When I'm on high boost and hit 13-13.5psi at about 4000rpm the car just stops accelerating for about 1 second the kicks back in.
I've read somewhere that the stock ecu's cut boost at around the 13 mark and guys have installed fuel cut defenders and were able to wind up the boost another couple of psi without the 'jolt' of the ecu cutting power.
Is this what's happening with my fozzy?
If so, will a fuel cut defender stop my pingging? (I use premium petrol and an octane boost bottl every tank)
Thanks guys

Thumbs up

Mild tune. No dyno
I'm not spending too much on it coz I'll be either buying a new STI or doing a nut & bolt restoration with STI running gear (I love the shape and handling of it) when I get $ from a court case.
Got the exhaust, controller, and turbo 2nd had off a mate real cheap.
That's why it's still got the stock ecu
Chasing an STI ecu off a my99 coz apparently the wiring is the same. If I can find one cheap, it'll stop the ping.
Do you think it's the ecu safety cut off? (Where a fcd will fix it?)
Thanks

What is the condition of the fuel pump and filter?

Is it hitting boost cut? (Is it completely cutting out?)

If not, I doubt that a fuel cut defender will be of any help.

Hi type25.
New filters and fluids for everything from the engine to suspension (even rebuilt and regasketed the power steering pump).
And fitted a Warlbro high flow fuel pump.

Yeah it's hitting boost cut. Completely cutting out.

It's running lean! You are putting more air into the engine the ECU won't add more fuel cos it can't as it's not the right tune.

You are sitting on a time bomb get it done right.......... Dyno tune.

Thanks guys.
I thought it was running rich. Lol. Can't afford a piggy back ecu or dyno (just spent over $3k getting everything redone from the push rods to the sump tray) so I'm broke.
I'll just wind down the boost for now. Don't want it to go bang.
The guys at Subie Evolution said an STI ecu from a my99 would plug straight in and fix the issue. So I'll just try find one of them.
Do you think changing the ecu will do what they say?
How much would a dyno set me back? I was guesstimating around the $800 mark?

Yes, you're definitely hitting boost cut!
The stock ecu's max out their small amount of "adaption" at 12 psi (anything over that and you'll be running lean) and yes will hit boost cut around 13psi unless properly de-restricted and/or tuned. Your safest option right now is to bring boost back down to 12 psi in 4th/5th gear, return the stock bov/bpv or add a wrx equivalent (resurculating) and unplug the battery for an ecu reset (there's a good how-to on here somewhere).
My best advice is to be safe, rather than sorry. Keep the psi low (12psi) for good afr's and save yourself for a decent tune to maximise gains!
