Gave him a call, unfortunately he is flat out busy for the next 2 weeks and doesn't even have time to check it out

As an ad hoc comment; he did say a resonator should do it, but a proper one, not a hotdog... wee, learning all the time.

Butler exhausts are top workmanship but the design may not have been tested on your model vehicle so there is a chance of droning.
One extra resonator will not make a lot of difference.
General opinion is that ovals are quieter than cannons.
Pricing on used parts, not easy even if as new.
As you note, you are competing against a new Ultrex, these are ok and fair value for money.

Well I have heard conflicting views, looks like we are going to try a longer resonator.
Fingers crossed it works against the drone, otherwise... there may be a wrx up for sale soon...

Surprised hasn't been mentioned but you just need pro-brand mufflers.
I've seen that same set up before and they were just WAY too loud.
TCP out of gold coast is brilliant for quality and imo perfect volume.
Get a recommended shop to hack those migraines off and put something tolerable on.
Then go the Ultrix mid pipe with resonator if required.

Not cheap but best option imo, new mufflers before resonator because after you get the resonator you'll realise you need mufflers as well :/

Edit - your express request for a moderate - low volume exhaust appears not to have been at all respected.
I am aware of at least one other customer of his with the exact same story of woe.
Just me or is it a bit fkn rude?

Yep, in the name of science, let it be known that the resonator made little to no difference.
~60km it is slightly less droney, up at 100km I can't tell the difference.

So yeahnah, I agree with your edit.

Install a decent stereo. No drone then.
