Engine/Wiring Loom questions

Looking to put a '97 STI engine (EJ207) into my '99 GC8/GF8 Impreza WRX. From what i understand the wiring loom is different and i was wondering the easiest way of making it compatible with the stock loom and stock ECU.
Thanks guys,
Ruben

(p.s sorry if this is in the wrong section or isnt clear, first time using a forum)

You would be better sourcing a same age as your car engine as the wiring loom and what not are same or straight bolt on .. the 97 and 99 use a totally different set up

For the amount of work and $ required to go to a 97 motor .. reloom, aftermarket ecu etc you would be far better of with a v7-v9 jdm 207 and turbo set up .. lee from sukura can hook you up .. look for rexxed 2.0 build thread for reaults

Custom wiring loom and wire in ecu then anything is possible later gd or gd 2.0l engines with avcs have far better gains to be had then the older 97 motor

There is a company in Queensland that does wiring harnesses I just can't think of their name atm, message seagull on here, he had one done, V3 STI motor is fantastic and the V3 is the loom he could do with his eyes shut.

It contravenes ADR regulations to fit an older engine to an Australian compliance vehicle.

Hence, it is actually illegal to do so.

Potentially could cause licensing and /or insurance issues.

My gen 1 s2 Liberty I did I v3 swap.
The motor motor was a GTB engine and I fitted a V3 ECU. The wiring was done by AM auto and yes he did a very good job.

I see this car around from time to time.
