Default GD Steering Rack in a GC/GF?

My steering rack seems to have a leak (from behind the boots,not viable to repair cost wise ive read) so i want to change/ upgrade the rack.
I wondered if anyone has fitted an sti rack from a gd (2006 hawk sti model).

The way that it mounts to the crossmember is different; crossmember change is required.

Also steering coupling has different spline; I am told a hybrid coupling can be made using top spline of GC and lower of GD.

Few lads have done it in gc8s

You need to weld one bit of the steering knuckle with a gd one but it still fits in the gc8 cross member 2 of my friends run this setup in a gc8 and rs liberty

MY00 Club Spec EVO IV #187/300 with a 05 JDM STI conversion 290hp 406nm

Thanks for the replys guys, so it may be a little more work than its worth.
May be better off trying to track down an RA rack from a GC8?

Only early GD models (bugey and peanuts). Hawkeye GD models onwards changed the steering rack design. And it is NOT compatible unless the engine crossmember is also changed. (Aswell as the different splines on colum vs rack)

Just thought i would clarify given the OP specifically asked about 06 GD rack.

Ahh did not see the 06 part i just saw the GD. They must have early gd racks then
