Default AVCS or not?

i have recently bought new cam gears but i am not sure on removing AVCS and run it fixed with the new adj cam gears on both intake and exhaust.
if anyone has done this before pls share your experiences. btw, is going to be on stock camshafts.

Well you can do it if you want, but AVCS can improve spool times, and your SM4 shouldnt have a problem controlling it either.

Sounds like you bought cam gears cos it was the cool thing to do, without even researching as to whether it would be worth it or not.

now why the hell did you buy adj cam gears on stock cams...you wont get any gain, you'll probably loose power if you ditch the avcs on the standard cams

As much as i like to see people actively contribute technical questions.. why on earth did you buy the gear.. then ask about exp?

Sounds too cheque book racerish to me..

I'd say keep AVCS, since the SM4 can control it. Explore that avenue first then move onto the gears. After all that seems the most logical approach to your project build.

The ONLY benefit with cam gears, in my experience, is that it effectively "shifts" the power band. Meaning, you might make more top end, whilst sacrificing bottom end, and vice versa.

They can be a good mod... I made 15hp in the midrange on my GTR whilst only sacrificing 2hp at the top end. Mind you though...the GTR dont have any of this AVCS shit. So bottom line, yes its a worth while mod, however the autronic will be able to make the suitable adjustments, therefore, I doub't you'll need the gears.

Sell them.

this was what i was planning to do...instead of going thru tunning AVCS to with ECU, just use adj. cam gears to gain more mid range power. but i will have a chat with the tuner first to see which way is better for him.
