It's pretty simple. This is how I've done mine on my rotated GTX35R set up.
Subjective but this has worked for me for almost 20 years. Inlets to Can T the heads and run into the can. Run a separate feed from Crankcase to can. Outlets from Can On top of the Catch can you have a vent to atmosphere breather. I normally run a hose from this and vent under the passenger side near the gearbox. If you wan't to keep compliant with regs then vent it back to your intake pipe although I just vent to atmosphere. I return the contents of the catch can to the sump. Again subjective and lots of misinformation surrounding this. Yes the return will have some moisture in but more importantly it has oil which stays in your engine. Any moisture will evaporate with the heat anyway. When I built my car I designed my own return to sump catch can and it's been faultless.

dazdavies, Does your brake fluid get affected by the heat from the Turbo?
I had a Frantz Oil Filter bolted to the bracket of the brake booster on an '86 VL Commodore and wondered why all of a sudden I was experiencing brake fade. The oil was heating the filter bracket which in turn transferred the heat to the brake Master Cylinder and heating the fluid. So I was curious as to how your brake Master Cylinder handled the heat from the Turbo, seeing as how close it looks. I still have the Frantz Filter but haven't fitted to my cars since the VL as the engine bays are so tight theses days it is hard to find a good location. No it's fine. I did have to relocate the clutch reservoir for that reason but the heat shielding around it is very effective. Although I do intend to put a turbo blanket on at some point.

The brake master cylinder looks awfully close, that is why I asked.
Maybe it's the angle of the photo too that makes it look that way. Good to hear you don't have the heat problem like I did. |
