While we are on the subject of ECU's I hava a question...... I can't afford a new ECU and only have minor mods done to my car, so was thinking of maybe getting the standard one reflashed. Has anyone had this done? and if so is it a noticable difference or a waste of cash???
Cheers in advance. SC TER |

GC8s std ECUs are far more mod friendly than GD+ models...
You can do all sorts of mods and the ECU will simply adapt to them. TBE, CAI, turbo, etc... What kind of power figures are you chasing?

Not chasing huge power figures. Just trying to squeeze every last little horse out of the car. I know the ECUs on the GC8 can learn from your mod you fit, but I thought reflashing can change the maps etc???

You can get ecutek for the my99/00, but it is rarely used. I have only heard of only one person in Perth do a ecutek re-flash on their my99 WRX.
Consider getting a Apexi PFC.... One of the best value aftermarket ECUs out there with loads of potential. Its PNP so you can usually get one fitted and tuned for around $1600 to $1800 including the Hand controller.

I thought the GC8 was the only Rex you can get away with all sorts of mods and no ecu upgrade

basic rule is... any mod.. get it tuned.

Adapt is probably not the right word.... The ECU "Copes" well with lots of modification. Its better than GD+ models that are more likely to throw a CEL when you mod most things
